Leveraged trading in foreign currency or off-exchange products on margin carries significant risk and may not be suitable for all investors. We advise you to carefully consider whether trading is appropriate for you based on your personal circumstances. Forex trading involves risk. Losses can exceed deposits. We recommend that you seek independent advice and ensure you fully understand the risks involved before trading.

Options are contracts giving the owner the right to buy or sell an asset at a fixed price (called the “strike price”) for a specific period of time. That period of time could be as short as a day or as long as a couple of years, depending on the option. The seller of the option contract has the obligation to take the opposite side of the trade if and when the owner exercises the right to buy or sell the asset. In the previous paragraph, we have mentioned the term leverage. It is important to say, that people join the Forex market because it provides them with higher leverage, which is different from other financial instruments. This means that you can borrow a higher amount of money from your broker for your investments. Furthermore, borrowing the money from your broker and higher investments will provide you with the bigger potential to make a profit, because you will earn a precise percentage of your investment.
Creating a trading plan is a critical component of successful trading. It should include your profit goals, risk tolerance level, methodology and evaluation criteria. Once you have a plan in place, make sure each trade you consider falls within your plan’s parameters. Remember: you’re likely most rational before you place a trade and most irrational after your trade is placed.

A limit order is the type of order you can use to exit the market once you reach a certain profit. This way your broker will buy or sell a certain currency pair at a specified price. If you are taking a short position, it means you will have to set your limit order, somewhat lower than the market price, and vice versa, if you are taking a long position it would be good to set a limit order higher than the current market price.

I learned a lot of the basics on Babypips which was a great foundation for understanding the markets, but they didn’t really give me anything applicable to go and learn from. I found this masterclass through Google and after a lengthy live chat and e-mail conversations, I finally got a copy of the Masterclass. They actually directed me to parts of the course that would be most relevant to me immediately to apply and top up my knowledge from Babypips which made it easy for me. Some info. is for complete beginners (if you have no idea about the Forex markets then they hold your hand), but the more actionable knowledge in there is fantastic.

The smallest lot that is on offer by a vast number of brokers is called a Micro lot. It equals 1000 units of a currency. So if we are taking into account, for example, EUR, that micro lot will be equivalent to 1000 EUR. A 2 pip, in this case, would be worth 20 cents. It is suggested if you are new to Forex trading, that you use this type of lots. If you have more capital to invest, then Mini lot would be a far better way to make a profit. Let’s say you have a dollar-based account and are trading a dollar-based currency pair. In this instance, 1 pip is equivalent to $1. Since the market fluctuates, and pips can skyrocket or plunge, profits or losses can be far greater.

They have a simple philosophy of how to become a successful trader: “make pips, keep pips, repeat.” But they don’t shy away from telling you it’s going to be difficult. Their course is well structured with levels ranging from ‘preschool’ to ‘graduation’ with maybe a few too many puns throughout!  If you enjoy their humour then this course could be the perfect forex entry point.

What I try and do in all my books, is to level out you discover ways to apply that info that may make it easier to turn into a additional assured supplier. In any case, learning is all properly and good, however once we aren’t taught the proper approach to apply that info in a wise technique, then it is of little use. It is the software of data that empowers, and that’s what I’ve tried to do proper right here, and in my online teaching rooms, and all my books.
Now that we've reviewed basic terminology, let's look at some of the differences between trading stocks vs. currencies. In currency trading you are always comparing one currency to another so forex is always quoted in pairs. Sometimes authors of currency research will refer to only one half of the currency pair. For example if an article is referring to the euro (EUR) trading at 1.3332 it's assumed the other currency is the U.S. dollar (USD).
Most small investors are unfamiliar with the foreign currency ('Forex') market and the Commodities Futures and Trading Commission ('CFTC'), in part, because the securities or equities markets are regularly marketed to the general public, and reported upon in the financial news. Beginning in the early 1990s, with the proliferation of discount brokers and self-directed on-line securities trading ... [Show full abstract]Read more

This strategy is the flipside of the long put, but here the trader sells a put – referred to as “going short” a put – and expects the stock price to be above the strike price by expiration. In exchange for selling a put, the trader receives a cash premium, which is the best upside a short put can earn. If the stock finishes below the strike price, the trader must buy it at the strike price.
CFTC Rules 4.41 - Hypothetical or Simulated performance results have certain limitations. Unlike an actual performance record, simulated results do not represent actual trading. Also, because the trades have not actually been executed, the results may have under-or-over compensated for the impact, if any, of certain market factors, such as lack of liquidity. Simulated trading programs, in general, are also subject to the fact that they are designed with the benefit of hindsight. No representation is being made that any account will or is likely to achieve profit or losses similar to those shown. Testimonials appearing may not be representative of other clients or customers and is not a guarantee of future performance or success.
Beginners in forex have peculiar needs. It takes approximately 18 months of consistent coaching, mentoring and practice to be able to cross from the realm of being a beginner to the realm of being an intermediate-level trader. This fact was put across by the CEO of a UK-based proprietary trading firm. The question is: what does the beginner do for the 18 months that it will probably take to make that transition? A lot of practice on demo and live accounts as well as a lot of study of all kinds of materials that range from the actual trading process, to trader psychology will have to be done.

When it comes to currency trading you will note that the currency pair is always followed by a number. Let’s take an example from above, USD/JPY 108. In our case, the base currency is USD and is always equal to 1. Therefore, we have this proportion of 1 USD/JPY 108. This example shows that 1 USD and 108 JPY are equivalent. On the other hand, if we use JPY as the base currency according to the forex convention it will look like this JPY/USD 0.0092. Bear in mind not to swap two currencies and their values. Even though they at first glance seem different, dividing 1 with 0.0092 we will have 108 as the result, which means that the mathematical relation shouldn’t change.
To conclude this Forex basic tutorial, let’s see what trading platforms are all about. A trading platform is simply a program that you install on your computer which is then used to connect to your brokerage account and start trading. Nowadays, there are also web-based and mobile-based trading platforms which can be opened directly in your browser or installed on your smartphone. Check with your broker if those types of platforms are offered.
