A whole lot of traders only use micro and mini lots. The thing is, large accounts are using Standard lots as these can bring the most profit. If we use the dollar example from above, it would mean that 1 pip equals $10. If there is a 20 pip movement you would have an equivalent of $200. This shows great potential for both profits, and, unfortunately, losses. Like we already mentioned, Standard lots are only for larger accounts, and you would need to have a larger capital to be able to invest in these.
Let’s continue this Forex trading basics tutorial with the major currencies that are traded on the Forex market. Those include the US dollar (USD), euro (EUR), British pound (GBP), Swiss franc (CHF), Japanese yen (JPY), Australian dollar (AUD), New Zealand dollar (NZD) and the Canadian dollar (CAD). Besides these eight major currencies, there are two more currencies that round up the G10 currencies – the Norwegian krone (NOK) and the Swedish krone (SEK).
A lot presents the minimum that you can trade in the Forex market and is in correlation with the risk. If you are a trader, you will have to check and look for the most convenient lot size that matches your current trading account. Again, be aware that the market is very active and is rapidly changing. Therefore, if you don’t have any huge trade, a 100 pip movement won’t affect your account. On the contrary, a huge lot with the same pip movement (100 pip) will definitely result as a loss. It is significant to recognize which lot size is the most convenient for you.
While these are the most popular active FX trading strategies, Forex traders can use these concepts to innovate and develop well-versed Forex systems through the use of fundamental analysis and/or technical analysis. There are many tools a Forex trader can use to gain an edge in the FX market like Forex chart patterns, technical indicators, statistics and much more.
The trader can set the strike price below the current price to reduce premium payment at the expense of decreasing downside protection. This can be thought of as deductible insurance. Suppose, for example, that an investor buys 1,000 shares of Coca-Cola (KO) at a price of $44 and wants to protect the investment from adverse price movements over the next two months. The following put options are available:

Since the market is made by each of the participating banks providing offers and bids for a particular currency, the market pricing mechanism is based on supply and demand. Because there are such large trade flows within the system, it is difficult for rogue traders to influence the price of a currency. This system helps create transparency in the market for investors with access to interbank dealing.
There are some advantages to trading options. The Chicago Board of Options Exchange (CBOE) is the largest such exchange in the world, offering options on a wide variety of single stocks, ETFs and indexes. Traders can construct option strategies ranging from buying or selling a single option to very complex ones that involve multiple simultaneous option positions.
One practice that poses problems to all traders is lack of transparency among brokers. One of such practices is stop hunting. This is a practice of some unscrupulous market maker brokers who move prices using a dealing desk to stop out trades even when true market prices are still a few pips away. Forex Capital Markets (FXCM LLC) was punished some years back by the CFTC for this infraction. Beginner traders are usually unaware of such practices. Experienced traders usually know how to navigate these bumps along the way but this is not the case for beginners. Stop hunting, excessive slippages and platform freezes are things to look out for and where these occurrences are regular with a broker, you need to avoid such a broker like the plague. So Trusted forex brokers for beginners are those who provide transparency in pricing and other trading operations, thus providing a level playing field.

Pretty much everything you need to know before you decide to make your first trade. 90% of forex traders rush into making trades and as a result lose a lot of money (a lot!) Instead we recommend understanding everything from the ground up, what can go wrong, what the market usually does and how violent the movements can be between 2 currency pairs. This is a must read before making your first forex trade.

CURRENCY PAIR: The quotation and pricing structure of the currencies traded in the forex market: the value of a currency is determined by its comparison to another currency. The first currency of a currency pair is called the "base currency", and the second currency is called the "quote currency". The currency pair shows how much of the quote currency is needed to purchase one unit of the base currency.
Risk warning: Trading Forex (foreign exchange) or CFDs (contracts for difference) on margin carries a high level of risk and may not be suitable for all investors. There is a possibility that you may sustain a loss equal to or greater than your entire investment. Therefore, you should not invest or risk money that you cannot afford to lose. Before using Admiral Markets UK Ltd, Admiral Markets Cyprus Ltd or Admiral Markets PTY Ltd services, please acknowledge all of the risks associated with trading.
Reward/risk: In this example, the trader breaks even at $19 per share, or the strike price minus the $1 premium received. Below $19, the trader would lose money, as the stock would lose money, more than offsetting the $1 premium. At exactly $20, the trader would keep the full premium and hang onto the stock, too. Above $20, the gain is capped at $100. While the short call loses $100 for every dollar increase above $20, it’s totally offset by the stock’s gain, leaving the trader with the initial $100 premium received as the total profit.
An alternative to call options are put options, which give the buyer the right to sell the underlying security at the strike price. Put options generally are bought when the purchaser expects the value of the stock, also known as the underlying security, to fall, and sold when the seller thinks the value of the stock is going rise or stay relatively constant.

Options are contracts giving the owner the right to buy or sell an asset at a fixed price (called the “strike price”) for a specific period of time. That period of time could be as short as a day or as long as a couple of years, depending on the option. The seller of the option contract has the obligation to take the opposite side of the trade if and when the owner exercises the right to buy or sell the asset. For traders—especially those with limited funds—day trading or swing trading in small amounts is easier in the forex market than other markets. For those with longer-term horizons and larger funds, long-term fundamentals-based trading or a carry trade can be profitable. A focus on understanding the macroeconomic fundamentals driving currency values and experience with technical analysis may help new forex traders to become more profitable.
