Options offer alternative strategies for investors to profit from trading underlying securities. There's a variety of strategies involving different combinations of options, underlying assets, and other derivatives. Basic strategies for beginners include buying calls, buying puts, selling covered calls and buying protective puts. There are advantages to trading options rather than underlying assets, such as downside protection and leveraged returns, but there are also disadvantages like the requirement for upfront premium payment. The first step to trading options is to choose a broker. Fortunately, Investopedia has created a list of the best online brokers for options trading to make getting started easier. (For related reading, see "Top 5 Books on Becoming an Options Trader")
All currency pairs that involve the US dollar as either the base or counter-currency are called major currency pairs. They include the EURUSD, GBPUSD, and USDJPY, to name a few. Currency pairs that don’t include the US dollar, but include the remaining seven major currencies, are called cross pairs. Examples of cross pairs are GBPJPY, GBPAUD, and AUDNZD.
From the option writer’s (seller) perspective, if the stock price is below the strike price, then the option is known to be “out of the money.” When the option is out of the money at expiration, then the option becomes worthless. This is good for the option writer because he profits by keeping the premium paid by the buyer. (Every buyer of an option must pay a premium to the seller of the option). When the option becomes worthless, the option writer does not have to pay the option holder anything and keeps the premium he received.
Leverage: Allows you to control bigger sums of money by borrowing from your FX broker so you can boost the profits of a trade. The standard leverage offered by most brokers is 1:50 and it can go as high as 1:500. Using a 1:50 leverage it means that you can control with every $1 from your account $50 in buying power. For example, if you invest $10,000 with a broker that provides you with 1:50 leverage it means that your total buying power is $500,000 (50 x $10,000).

I agree with some of the other reviewers that the book really could have used better editing, or any editing at all. The thing that most bothered me was the size of the book; The full 8.5x11 pages were almost unwieldy, as I like to bring my books to work and read when I have the opportunity, which is usually behind the wheel of a parked truck. It was hard to carry around all day, as it did not fit in my lunch box. Neither of these issues take away from the fact that the information provided is good, the book can be the start to a solid foundation. It is not the be all, end all, but as I said before it is a great start.
Leveraged trading in foreign currency or off-exchange products on margin carries significant risk and may not be suitable for all investors. We advise you to carefully consider whether trading is appropriate for you based on your personal circumstances. Forex trading involves risk. Losses can exceed deposits. We recommend that you seek independent advice and ensure you fully understand the risks involved before trading.
I learned how to scalp years ago and barely made anything, plus what I learnt made me anxious at every trade. Reviewed this Forex Masterclass and I’ve definitely taken it up a gear… Trading on higher timeframes and understanding when to increase and decrease risk is something I totally overlooked. The strategies work too, I only implement 3 of them on a daily basis and so far so good.

Do you want a course drip fed to you over a few weeks or would you prefer to access the entire collection of training material at once?  As mentioned above, you need to consider what stage you are at in your education and whether a paid course would be suitable or not.  You also need to assess whether the content of a particular course will actually cover the topics you need to learn. This applies to both free courses and paid topics.  There’s no point spending a week learning the exact same material as a previous course.

When to use it: A covered call can be a good strategy to generate income when you already own the stock and don’t expect the stock to rise significantly in the near future. So the strategy can transform your already-existing holdings into a source of cash. The covered call is popular with older investors who need the income, and it can be useful in tax-advantaged accounts where you might otherwise pay taxes on the premium and capital gains if the stock is called.

From the option holder’s perspective, if the stock price is below the strike price, then the option is known to be “in the money.” In this case, the option holder can profit by buying the stock at the market value, but then selling it for a higher price at the strike value to the option writer (the option writer is obligated to buy the stock if the holder chooses to exercise his right and sell the stock within the expiration date; remember, options are contracts).
