I agree with some of the other reviewers that the book really could have used better editing, or any editing at all. The thing that most bothered me was the size of the book; The full 8.5x11 pages were almost unwieldy, as I like to bring my books to work and read when I have the opportunity, which is usually behind the wheel of a parked truck. It was hard to carry around all day, as it did not fit in my lunch box. Neither of these issues take away from the fact that the information provided is good, the book can be the start to a solid foundation. It is not the be all, end all, but as I said before it is a great start.
The upside on a long put is almost as good as on a long call, because the option premium can increase many times in value. However, a stock can never go below zero, capping the upside, whereas the long call has theoretically unlimited upside. Long puts are another simple and popular way to wager on the decline of a stock, and they can be safer than shorting a stock.
A year or so later I ran across an article about Richard Dennis and the 'Turtle Traders'. I realized: a) people do make money doing these things, b) anyone can learn the methods, c) and there are experts out there who are willing to share their knowledge. I started looking for a good book again and almost immediately found Anna's books. Forex for Beginners was so cheap and the free sample indicated it would be an easy read. Halfway through, and also after reading comments about it on several forums, I was sold on VPA. I decided to re-open my FXCM practice account and try some of her recommendations, then read the next book (A Complete Guide to Volume Price Analysis) while waiting for my account to fund. She recommends not using a practice account for anything more than learning the interface, for several reasons: real money is more meaningful and lessons stick better, the practice account feed is usually not a real live feed even if they say it is, and the practice feed won't show you the sudden spikes in the spread caused by your broker sometimes taking advantage of a fast moving market. Forex for Beginners was very helpful in explaining how the different types of forex brokers' operations can work against your interests if you have the wrong type of broker, and how to find the right type so you're not betting against the house.
By purchasing the course you gain lifetime access to the content which includes the initial 14-day course, a community section, market analysis, live trading signals, and a further nine modules to enhance your knowledge even more. The payment options are via a one-off fee or 12 monthly payments. You can see a bunch of reviews on the website and a complete run-down of the content covered.
The subject can be broken into two different categories - general knowledge and price action knowledge. The first two groups of courses above (under Free Online Courses and Forex Training Providers) are ‘general’ forex market training. And the last group (Forex Price Action Courses) are sites specifically focused on price action strategies. If you are completely new to the world of forex, for example you aren’t sure what price action strategies are, then you should be focusing on general knowledge first.
There are chapters on every aspect of Forex in this book. If you have any questions about how to choose a good broker or how to open a trade, it's in here. Everything's in here in an easy to read and follow resource. I'm so glad I chose this book over the millions that are out there. Anna Coulling definitely knows Forex! I'd highly recommend picking this one up if you want to know how to trade or just what Forex is.
Almost every retail forex brokerage offers the MT4 platform. If you are going into warfare, common sense reasoning dictates that you practice with the same weapon which you will have to use on the warfront, as no one goes into battle with an unproven rifle (or unproven skills for that matter). So if you are going to start off trading any real money, you simply have to start your learning journey with the MT4 platform.
Also remember that many forex trading strategies require fast reactions, clerical accuracy and nimble thinking, which may not suit everyone. You will also need to learn to master your emotions, keep your ego in check and humbly admit your trading errors while you remain resilient enough to pick yourself up psychologically and take a risk on another trade.
Most Forex books are 90% background fluff and basic encyclopedia knowledge found for free online and about 10% strategy of only theoretical value. In other words, most books are scams with ~20 reviews presumably written by the author and his friends. This book is 90% specific practical guidlines and only about 10% on the basics or Forex. The Volume-Price Analysis Couling explains, (VPA), is working for me consistently - since I bought the book I'm profting about 1% of my account value per day on 2-3 trades a day. I'm shooting for 10 pips a day profit and keeping my risk limited to 1% of my account, and Couling's VPA is working beautifully for me.... doing 1-2 trades in the day of EUR/USD and 1-2 trades at night with USD/JPY. I'm scalping off the one minute charts, using hourly and daily charts to set the stage. I'm playing it very conservatively because I've been disappointed with several other strategies, but I can tell you that the more indicators you are using and the more clutter on your charts, the less likely you will succeed, IMO. Price and volume tell it all. In some sense Couling's emphasis on volume is a rehash of classic tape reading from the 1930s and she reminds me of how Nick Darvas simplified a practical strategy, but the essential contribution here is applying these stock trading compasses to Forex. Many Forex traders have too much "knowledge" and will be more profitable using volume alone instead of bands, oscillators, signals, macd, moving averages, etc. This is a quality book.
Risk/Reward: If the price of the underlying stays the same or rises, the potential loss will be limited to the option premium, which is paid as insurance. If, however, the price of the underlying drops, the loss in capital will be offset by an increase in the option's price and is limited to the difference between the initial stock price and strike price plus the premium paid for the option. In the example above, at the strike price of $40, the loss is limited to $4.20 per share ($44 - $40 + $0.20).
Hi - my journey into the financial markets was prompted by a desire to make sense of the jargon filled replies I usually received when asking any financial adviser, the simplest of questions. Clearly they believed as a mere woman, I was incapable of understanding the complexities of the markets. This prompted my desire to learn, and since then I have been involved in every aspect of trading and investing for over seventeen years. Now at last, I have the luxury of time, to devote the next phase of my life to writing a series of books with one aim. To explain complex subjects and concepts surrounding the financial markets, in a clear and simple way. I actually began my professional life, as an English teacher. However, English was not my first language, having arrived in the UK from Italy at the tender age of three. At that time I spoke no English whatsoever, and my first memories are of my little village school in Scotland where I grew up, and where I learnt to read and write, chalk in hand! Very old fashioned, but what a wonderful way to learn. Since then, I have never stopped talking! - well I am Italian and as I'm sure you know, Italians ALWAYS have an opinion on EVERYTHING!! Languages must be in my blood, as I also studied French and Spanish. I've now transferred the 'teaching gene' into written form through the power of Amazon. I hope, that whether you are a trader, investor or a speculator, you will find one, or perhaps more, of my books useful in your own approach to the markets. Kind regards Anna --This text refers to the paperback edition.
Interest Rate Risk: The moment that a country’s interest rate rises, the currency will strengthen. The boost in strength can be attributed to an influx of investments in that country’s assets since with a stronger currency, higher returns can be more likely. But if the interest rate falls, the currency will weaken, which may result to more investors withdrawing their investments.

There are actually three ways that institutions, corporations and individuals trade forex: the spot market, the forwards market, and the futures market. Forex trading in the spot market has always been the largest market because it is the "underlying" real asset that the forwards and futures markets are based on. In the past, the futures market was the most popular venue for traders because it was available to individual investors for a longer period of time. However, with the advent of electronic trading and numerous forex brokers, the spot market has witnessed a huge surge in activity and now surpasses the futures market as the preferred trading market for individual investors and speculators. When people refer to the forex market, they usually are referring to the spot market. The forwards and futures markets tend to be more popular with companies that need to hedge their foreign exchange risks out to a specific date in the future.
